John and Kathy Hawkins. John is Director of Vista Camps, taking care of the grounds and facilities and supervising the dining hall operations. His expertise is evident in our beautiful, well maintained facilities and in the dining hall where delicious, nutritious, hot meals are served six times a day. He is active with the stock show association, and currently serves on the Kerr County Emergency Services Board for District #1. He also served on the Ingram School Board for many years and as president of C. A. M. P. Kathy is a University of Texas- Austin graduate and a registered nurse who has many years of experience as a youth camper. She has worked in the camp office and the infirmary and now works at the hospital in Kerrville. They have three children who have all worked at camp. Their oldest son, Justin, now works at camp full- time. Chaille Hawkins. Chaille’s camping experience began as a camper in the Texas Hill Country, where she spent 9 summers on the Guadalupe River at a girl’s camp down the road. Justin has spent every summer of his life here at Vista Camps, and he wouldn’t have it any other way. She went to school for Interior Design, loves artsy things and loves to be creative, and uses her amazing decorating talent and great taste around the office, the camp store, and helping to coordinate weddings and parties we have here at camp. Diane is a go- getter with a hilarious personality and a we are blessed by her daily. She is helpful, sweet, selfless, thoughtful! Justin and Diane’s sweet and spunky daughter, Taylor, is just like her momma and will have you rolling on the floor laughing with her antics! They have recently added TWO babies to the mix; Hayes- the adorable two year old mini- Justin, and Ruth- the loved more than cake sweet baby girl who just turned 1 this Fall. Justin and Diane make a great team running the Vista Camps office and taking care of everything from planning the summer meal schedule to stocking up the camp store with goodies. Beth Rumbo. Beth was adopted into the Vista Family in the Spring of 2. Ha! Beth and her husband Justin (yes – another Justin) met at a children’s camp down the road and they have two amazing daughters, Makenna (1. Lily (7), who keep them and the whole Vista office in tears of laughter. Some of her favorite things include reading, sports, hiking, family time and the outdoors. These are just a FEW things about our energetic, creative, hilarious and humble girls’ camp director. Nathan Henry. Nathan Henry serves as the Rio Vista Camp Director. Blake spends most of his time at camp helping Johnnie “Pops” Hawkins working around camp, while Caroline can be found encouraging others and seeing to it that people are where they need to be. Before joining camp, Nathan spent seven years in the “real world” working in Environmental Remediation in both Houston and Austin. Nathan is a graduate from Texas Tech University and received his Master of Science at The University of Arizona in Tucson. Nathan loves hobbies; and some of his favorites include, fishing, golf, basketball, painting, and anything else outdoors. Sara Kendrick. Sara Kendrick, or “Carter” as most alumni know her, is a 2nd generation camper here at Vista Camps. She’s been dreaming of working at camp since she was 8 years old in Hawks Hilton, sharing the dream of everyone else who ever crossed over the LWC. After making her way from Hawks to Mountain View, Sara taught horseback and JFF for 3 summers and loved every minute of it. It might have helped that her co- counselor and the love of her life was waiting for her at the Vista Stables. Who ever said summer romances don’t last? Sara and Sean have been blissfully married for 1. She is currently the Camp Registrar and the Social Media Guru. It’s hard to call it work when you’re pinning on Pinterest, but somebody has to do it.
